Aarni has of course always existed, but the current incarnation's story began in the autumn of 1998 e.v. when M.·.M.·.
suddenly began solitarily developing his vague musical ideas further. He got telepathetic messages from the unicorn dolphin elder of Sirius B, who begged M.·.M.·. to reawaken the ancient Xothian aural technology tradition called 'aarni'.

There's a certain mood, an oddly specific aspect of existential misery triggered in me when listening to this - especially Von Alcoholische Verbittering Naar Religieuze Cult and its follow-up tracks. It's almost like spectating myself being overwhelmed by my demons: an ego death; a vicious, delirious frenzy induced by e.g. Salvia Divinorum, fighting over the control of my fleshly vessel, torn apart from within. I live for tracks like this, thrive in the 'visions'... absolute god-tier ambience.
